The Bureau revises employer FCRA forms

Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) forms employers are to use for background checks and other situations have been updated with new point of contact information. Employers (financial institutions included) should use the new forms starting on Jan. 1, 2013. Because the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) now has the rulemaking authority for the FCRA, the updated forms now direct consumers and users and furnishers of information to the CFPB instead of the Federal Trade Commission. The notices updated include:

  • A Summary of Your Rights Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act
  • Notice to Users of Consumer Reports: Obligations of Users Under the FCRA
  • Notice to Furnishers of Information: Obligations of Furnishers Under the FCRA
