RSM US Foundation Awards $100K in “Power Your Transition” Community College Scholarships

CHICAGO – (June 22, 2022) – RSM US LLP (RSM) – the nation’s leading provider of audit, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market – is pleased to announce that the RSM US Foundation has selected 10 students to each receive $10,000 RSM “Power Your Transition” community college scholarships (for a total of $100,000). Students will also receive invitations to participate in an RSM information session and will be invited to interview with the firm for future internship opportunities.

The RSM Power Your Transition – Community College Scholarship program helps current year community college graduates pursue bachelor’s degrees in accounting, business or technology. To be considered, recipients craft a short statement about what motivates them to pursue degrees in those areas, along with brief videos demonstrating which of RSM’s 5 C’s (attributes the firm’s people demonstrate to clients) comes most naturally to (and best fits) them – caring, curious, collaborative, courageous or critical thinking.

“The RSM US Foundation is focused on building tomorrow’s middle market leaders, and our various scholarship programs help us do that,” said Doug Opheim, chief financial officer with RSM US LLP and chair of the RSM US Foundation. “We are pleased to support these 10 students in continuing their education beyond community college, and we look forward to staying connected with them and watching the great things they’ll do in their professional careers.”

In addition to the RSM Community College and other scholarships, as well as university giving initiatives, RSM and the RSM US Foundation support communities across the country and in Canada where its people live and work through:

  • Annual Volunteer Event – Established in 2010, the annual RSM Volunteer Event demonstrates our commitment to giving our time in the communities where our people live and work. In 2021, 4,252 RSM people, friends and family members participated in more than 100 virtual and in-person volunteer activities across the country and in Canada to give back to their local communities. Supporting 91 charitable organizations, volunteer activities included assembling back-to-school backpacks, packing meals for those in need, landscaping at local schools, creating pickleball courts at Boys and Girls Clubs and other activities
  • Birdies Fore Love – RSM partners with the Davis Love Foundation – host organization for The RSM Classic, a PGA TOUR event – on Birdies Fore Love. Through this program, each RSM office selects a local charity that supports youth in the areas of hunger, housing or health. Each charity benefits from the funds raised locally by employees clients, family and friends. With a generous match from the RSM US Foundation, we were able to give more than $5.5 million to deserving charities in 2021, bringing the grand total raised for those in need through the tournament since its inception to $28,869,523.
