Tony Wood

Principal, Family Office Leader

About Tony

Tony Wood is a principal and national leader for the global family office practice at RSM US LLP and a member of the firm's board of directors. He focuses on improving the client experience by developing enterprise and advisory solutions for the complex needs of family office enterprises, including family-owned businesses, family offices and their investment structures.

Experience

Tony has more than 30 years of experience in senior leadership and practice development in the accounting profession. Before joining RSM, he operated his own firm, guiding many top U.S. accounting firms, private banking firms, family offices and law firms in reengineering business models, creating national platforms, enriching business development and marketing techniques, and devising new distribution channels to serve clients.

Within RSM’s family office practice, Tony and his team designed a state-of-the-art approach to serving families to understand their pain points and build tailored solutions to meet their needs. Tony’s inquisitive nature makes him naturally adept at asking the right questions and finding the right solutions. His passions intersect with solving client problems and seeing RSM colleagues succeed, both of which he has experienced many times over at RSM.

Living by the tagline “Every day is a great day,” Tony’s positive spirit is appreciated by clients and colleagues alike. At RSM, he hosts “Time with Tony,” a series of monthly mentoring calls with colleagues to discuss leadership, professional development, inspirational books and life challenges. He provides coaching and training around the sales process to help the next generation of employees better connect with clients. He is a devotee of servant leadership, carefully considering how to serve his clients best while creating an atmosphere where others can thrive.

A consummate team player and former All-American college athlete, Tony appreciates the sense of community at RSM. While he has received many professional accolades during his career, including being voted one of the Top 50 Professionals to Know in the accounting industry by Accounting Today he is most grateful for the camaraderie and support of his clients and colleagues at RSM. Tony is a cancer survivor and wrote a book about his journey back to health after suffering a pulmonary embolism that left him in a coma for 37 days. For Tony, every day is truly a great day.
