Congrats to Isabel Hernandez 2020 Flavio Castillo Award winner
DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION |
RSM’s ¡HOLA! employee network group (ENG) recently honored Isabel Hernandez with its fifth annual Flavio Castillo Excellence Award. The award was established in memory of Flavio, a partner in the firm’s financial services assurance practice in the Chicago office, who passed away unexpectedly in March 2016.
Flavio was instrumental in creating a vision for ¡HOLA!, and worked diligently to advance the ENG’s mission. Known for his passion for achieving excellence, Flavio worked to empower Hispanic and Latino employees with skills, relationships and resources they need to grow their careers at RSM.
Isabel is a tax manager in our Orlando office, ¡HOLA! steering committee member and president of the Orlando ALPFA (Association of Latino Professionals For America) chapter. Born in Cuba, she moved to the US when she was 16 not knowing the language. Her parents taught her to be the best she could be at whatever it was she chose to be.
When receiving her award, she noted that we all have special moments in life and hers was the 2015 ALPFA convention in New York City. “This was the first ALPFA event I had attended and my first ¡HOLA! event with RSM. I met and sat next to Flavio at our first RSM internal session, which was on the topic of excellence. This opportunity was a pivotal moment in my life and career. I realized I belonged at RSM and had a career and life purpose to fulfill here. I connected to my ¡HOLA! familia. I felt so energized and empowered to be part of the great story I believe our firm has written so far and will continue to write.”
Congratulations to Isabel!
