RSM IaaS frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Businesses of all sizes are leveraging the power of the cloud to increase computing and storage capabilities, and refocus resources to core business needs. RSM’s Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform is an integrated, secure platform of technology solutions, implemented at your speed to fit your unique needs. If you have not considered the cloud, or are unsure whether it is right for you, learn more about RSM IaaS and how it can benefit your business.

  1. What is Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)?
IaaS is a monthly, subscription-based service that provides the ability to purchase computing and storage capabilities as an alternative to setting up data center facilities and purchasing hardware, equipment and software licensing for on-premise use.
  2. Does RSM IaaS offer pay-as-you-go pricing or an annual contract?
RSM offers different methods for obtaining IaaS capabilities depending on your specific needs. In some instances, such as the setup of a testing or development environment, we can work with you to establish month-to-month arrangements. In other cases, we can set up annual contracts.
  3. How easy is it to scale my services up or down with RSM IaaS?
Different businesses have different technology resource needs at different times. RSM IaaS provides the ability to increase your processing power, storage, bandwidth and other technology resources as needed, even on short notice. You can also reduce these resources when you no longer need them. Either way, you’re only paying for the resources committed to your environment at any given time.
  4. Will implementation of RSM IaaS require additional IT resources?
Technology equipment and software licensing is only one part of any solution. The technical know-how to implement and maintain this technology is the other. We offer a wide spectrum of options with our IaaS services, ranging from largely client-administered environments to fully managed services, including monitoring, support and remediation solutions. You pay for as much, or as little, technical assistance as you need. As you move to the cloud, the need for reliable, fast connectivity becomes increasingly important, so we can also evaluate your current Internet connectivity or private WAN.
  5. What percentage of the time is the data available (uptime) with RSM IaaS?
The RSM IaaS environment is designed to provide clients with 100 percent uptime outside of pre-defined, periodic maintenance windows.
  6. How does RSM provide support?
RSM IaaS customers have anytime access to our service desk via telephone, email or our Web-based ticketing system. RSM has service desk technicians working 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to help you resolve issues or questions that may arise.
  7. What options are available to achieve high availability and disaster recovery options?
The RSM IaaS solution is built on fully redundant solutions offering not only improved performance from what you may be able to achieve from a typical on-premise solution, but also significantly improved uptime and availability. In order to meet your individual needs, we can tailor the specific backup, replication, disaster recovery and business continuity requirements from a variety of solutions.

Beyond traditional high availability disaster recovery solutions, RSM can offer advanced load balancing and fault tolerant solutions operating at the application and access points to ensure that your applications are available and performing to your expectations.
  8. My organization must comply with regulations. What are my options for using IaaS?
Different organizations have different regulatory requirements for their technology environments, and RSM IaaS can satisfy many of these demands. We also offer our RSM Private Cloud Solutions that can meet many complex regulatory requirements. We can work with you to make sure your compliance needs are met, and if you’re not sure if you need to meet regulatory requirements, we can provide assistance through our advisory services.
