VALOR employee network group

Encouraging the success of our veterans and military service members

Our VALOR (Veterans and Allies Leading Outreach) employee network group (ENG) encourages the recruitment, retention and success of veterans, active/reserve military members and their families within RSM and local communities. VALOR provides many resources to support the development of these individuals, while leveraging their skill sets to serve our clients.

VALOR supports and promotes advocacy for its members in their RSM and military aspirations. Members keep one another apprised of news and opportunities, and support employees still serving in the military when they’re deployed. VALOR supports local, regional and national activities to provide professional development, leadership skills, networking, business development and more to its members.

The VALOR ENG also partners with Folds of Honor to provide scholarships to families of military heroes who were disabled or lost their lives during their service.

We appreciate our military men and women at RSM, and all of our family and friends who support the military community!

Celebrating our independence

One of my favorite holidays each year is Independence Day, also known as the Fourth of July or July Fourth. Not only is this mid-summer holiday an opportunity for celebration but it dates back to the 18th century and the American Revolution.

On July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later, delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence. Since then, July Fourth has been celebrated as the birth of American independence, with fireworks, picnics, parades, concerts and barbecues with friends and family members.

While it’s a federal holiday, America isn’t the only country that celebrates the Fourth of July. The Philippines celebrate the day as Republic Day, and Rebild National Park in Denmark is reported to hold the largest July 4 celebrations outside of the U.S.

Here at RSM, one of the ways we’re recognizing Veteran’s Day is by sharing the stories of several of our people who served in the armed forces before joining our firm. This ‘veteran transition’ video series highlights each individual’s military accomplishments and their transition back to civilian life. Click here to hear David’s story.

As the national leader of RSM’s VALOR employee network group and behalf of our 13,000+ people across the U.S. and Canada, I’d like to wish you and yours a safe and happy Fourth of July!
