Improving the Outcomes for Hawaii

For I/DD and Adolescent Mental Health populations

Hawaii’s Department of Health - Behavioral Health Administration is focused on better outcomes for the population and the people that provide support. Hawaii embarked on a project where they combined the efforts and resources of the Developmental Disabilities and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Divisions to create a single case management solution. This solution embodied the process changes that have been taking place in each Division for the past few years. The solution is focused around the outcomes for the customers. How they are created through the planning process and then measured over time. Additional emphasis was placed on increasing the efficiencies and ease of use for the support professionals at the state and provider levels. As the systems integrator, these two key factors were the core tenants that RSM worked towards in delivering their HHS Case Management Accelerator for Microsoft Dynamics 365 in the government cloud. Mary Brogan and Derek Vale will discuss the factors that led them to the solution and what areas of their businesses have been most impacted with the solution. Demonstrations of the system will accompany the discussion to highlight the innovation used in the solution.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the approach Hawaii took for large system implementation
  • Complexities and successes of Multi Agency Case Management
  • How Outcomes are influenced by business process improvement
  • What ROI is being measured for case management implementations
