National Real Estate Industry Practice Leader
Rick is the national real estate leader for RSM LLP. He oversees all activities for the national real estate practice across a broad array of services, including assurance, tax, transactional due diligence, lease consulting, financial reporting outsourcing, cost segregation and other consulting services. Rick has more than 35 years of public accounting experience, primarily focused on the real estate industry. His clients have included real estate opportunity funds, joint ventures and portfolio companies, real estate investment trusts (REITS), developers, owners and investors and real estate management, brokerage and advisory firms. Rick's work has spanned across all sectors of the industry, including commercial, residential, multifamily, retail and hospitality. Additionally, he has extensive experience in real estate due diligence related services. Over the years, Edelheit has been actively involved in charitable services in the Chicagoland community.
Martina provides federal and multistate tax and consultation services to a variety of real estate owners, including REITs, opportunity funds and institutional investors. As the leader of RSM's national REIT practice, Martina has more than 23 years experience in public accounting, tax and financial roles within the real estate industry. Her focus includes tax planning, structuring and compliance services. She has served as vice president for a $3 billion, publicly traded REIT, with almost 400 residential properties in over 30 states. She has extensive experience with REIT compliance, Securities and Exchange Commission reporting, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, financing transactions, section 1031 deferred exchanges and partnership income and debt allocations.
Michael leads the firm's real estate advisory services practice. A former practicing real estate and bankruptcy attorney, Michael heads up a team of more than 40 professionals, who specialize in lease analysis and abstraction, real estate advisory services and audits, discounted cash flow modeling and related financial due diligence, property and asset management services. Clients include real property owners, REITs, management companies, lenders, government entities and tenant-based national corporations engaged in the acquisition, disposition, management, advisory and investment in retail, office, industrial and cell tower real estate interests on a national level.
Brandon leads the firm's construction practice based in Minneapolis. Brandon has served the industry for 13 years. He has experience providing business assurance and advisory services to all segments of the construction and real estate industry, including general, sub-, and specialty contractors, real estate owners, investors and real estate developers, commercial brokerage and property management firms. Brandon's industry specialization has allowed him to serve the municipal, single and multifamily residential, industrial, commercial, hospitality and retail segments of the construction and real estate marketplace.
Timberland Investment Lead
Jeff leads the firm’s timberland investment practice and is based in Birmingham, Alabama. He has over 20 years of experience working with real estate and real estate-related ventures and serves clients extensively in the area of timber and natural resource investments. A substantial amount of his time is devoted to providing assurance services to investment funds and separate accounts that serve as investment vehicles for institutional investors. He has significant experience with many complex issues affecting the timber industry and has particular expertise in the application of the fair value accounting standards to timberland investments.
Central Region Lead
Mike is a partner with over 24 years experience in the real estate and construction industries. He currently serves as RSM's Central regional leader of the real estate industry practice. Mike has significant expertise working with clients, including real estate investment funds, pension funds, developers, owners and investors in commercial, industrial, health care, hospitality and retail properties. In addition, Mike has experience working with general contractors, whose footprints encompass both national and international operations, various specialty subcontractors, both union and nonunion contractors and contractors with varying ownership structures, including employee stock option plans.
Northeast Region Lead
Stuart is a partner in RSM's New York City office and the Northeast regional leader of the real estate industry practice. He is a member of RSM's national real estate industry steering committee, as well as a member of the firm's advisory council. During his 17 years with the firm, Stuart has built outstanding skills by serving real estate and construction clients, including REITs, real estate opportunity funds and advisors, developers, owners and investors in retail, industrial, commercial, residential, hospitality, senior housing and manufactured home properties. Additionally, he has significant relationships with real estate management, brokerage and advisory firms.
