As a business strategist, Tom helps public and private firms, including private equity portfolio companies, navigate the challenges associated with growth and strategic planning. Leading RSM’s TAC practice in the United States and Canada, his team guides clients through transformative events such as divestitures, acquisitions, initial public offerings and special purpose acquisition company transactions. With a unique blend of operational and consulting skills, Tom drives the TAC team to understand each client’s needs and objectives, assess the client’s current state, and develop solutions for the client’s people, processes and technology challenges, ultimately delivering high-value services.
Tom is deeply invested in client service, and loves the challenge of complex technical projects and transformative events. He draws on his extensive experience to understand a client’s needs and implement workable solutions. His skill set shines in helping companies make strategic decisions to accelerate growth, drive value and plan for an investment or sale transaction. With his training and experience as a valuation expert, Tom has assisted many clients in determining the value of their companies, and in creating business and exit plans. He has served as an outsourced chief financial officer of privately held companies and as a full-time CFO of two companies through their initial public offering, giving him a true sense of what it’s like inside a client’s operations.
Tom’s previous experience working in RSM’s audit practice as a consultant illuminated the firm’s need for a practice that specialized in both unique technical knowledge and consulting experience. Leveraging his entrepreneurial mindset, he helped lay the foundation for the TAC practice to operate as a startup within RSM. Since its founding in 2017, TAC has experienced rapid growth and tremendous success.
