Since joining RSM, I’ve been impacted most by our culture. I’m so grateful to work for a firm that sees the value each person brings to a team.
I am always amazed by the strength of character of our people, and how they demonstrate RSM’s values each day with our clients and each other.
Philip Newman is a partner and national leader of the private club industry at RSM US LLP. He has more than 30 years of experience in public accounting, predominantly serving the private club industry.
Philip is singularly focused on consulting clients in the private club industry, drawing on his many years of experience serving country and city clubs, hotels, and resorts. As an assurance partner with an industry-first perspective, he provides operational consulting services for clubs specializing in issues surrounding audit and tax, internal controls, strategic planning, benchmarking studies, industry trends, and governance. He leverages his deep knowledge of the industry to advise club leadership on running a successful business.
Philip has cultivated and maintained relationships within the private club network that are critical to his clients’ success. He is the “go-to” leader with connections to those who serve the industry best. Philip is a firm believer in establishing great communication with clients, industry connections and RSM talent. He is a regular contributor to industry groups and a frequent speaker at hospitality-related conferences. He is involved with RSM’s Family First employee network group and is a participant in many club charities in the south Florida region.
His professional achievements include the creation of an operational survival strategy for a troubled resort, a risk and operational control matrix for a developer resort, and the development of an internal control and operational review for a major country club community developer.
Philip leads with empathy and always strives to understand issues from his client’s perspective. He is from a small village in Northern Ireland and grew up during the Northern Ireland conflict. Witnessing this conflict instilled in him a sense of diplomacy that is useful in leading with heart and resolving boardroom disputes. As an immigrant to the United States who was raised in the Catholic minority in Northern Ireland, Philip brings a unique perspective on leadership and client service to RSM—a perspective that is centered around the power of being understood.
