About Mathew

Matt Talcoff is a partner and RSM US LLP’s Washington National Tax leader. He leads a team of more than 100 tax professionals serving middle market businesses and high net worth individuals globally. Matt is a current member of the RSM US LLP Board of Directors.


Experience

As leader of RSM’s Washington National Tax practice, Matt ensures we bring the power of our firm to our clients by bringing our most technical tax professionals forward to solve complex issues and identify opportunities on a daily basis.

Matt is a member of the firm’s tax and industry leadership teams and served as RSM’s first national tax industry leader, consumer products tax leader and national investment fund executive leader. As a member of the RSM board of directors, Matt serves on several committees including finance, strategy and governance. He was also a leading member of the firm’s client advisory response team during the pandemic.  He served on the tax policy team, and as a member of the steering committees for RSM’s initiatives on foreign direct investment, firm website relaunch, global bilateral efforts, client experience and customer relationship management.

He has over 30 years of experience assisting clients with tax compliance and planning, transaction advisory services, and streamlining, integration and automation of their tax and financial accounting, compliance, research, and knowledge management systems. Matt has worked with both public and privately held companies. His areas of focus include retail and consumer products and working with investment fund executives. 

Matt joined RSM in 2008 following 17 years at a Big Four firm. He frequently speaks and writes about private client and consumer products tax matters that affect businesses and their owners. Matt speaks on tax policy and related matters on Capitol Hill and at industry association conferences. His speaking engagements have included the ICR retail investment conference, National Restaurant Association, Franchise Times, and American Apparel & Footwear Association. He has also spoken on the effects of tax reform on retail and restaurant businesses and owners and other topics. In addition, he has presented at PrivCap events on tax planning for fund executives.

Matt and his wife, Ruby, have four wonderful children, and as a family, they enjoy skiing, biking, cruises and cheering for Boston sports teams.
