John Bird is a partner; tax leader for RSM’s Great Lakes region; office leader for the Chicago office, RSM’s designated headquarters; and a member of the RSM US LLP Board of Directors.
John joined RSM in 1993 through an acquisition in 2005. He focuses on state and local taxation with an emphasis on state income, franchise, sales and use tax matters, as well as transaction-based matters. John has extensive experience working with business and professional services companies, with a primary focus on law firms. He brings years of deep industry knowledge to each client relationship to understand their challenges and provide relevant insights and solutions.
John attributes his opportunities to serve as a leader at RSM to the strong relationships he has fostered with both clients and his colleagues at RSM. As a partner, John is deeply invested in supporting and helping colleagues develop professionally toward their own success and the future success of the firm. He has participated in RSM’s Enterprise Leadership Academy where he networked with other partners and peer groups from various RSM locations. John is also active and supportive of RSM’s CDI and charitable programs. He has been involved with the Chicago Boys and Girls Club of Chicago and other local charities through the Birdies fore Love program and has organized and supported the annual backpack program for the Boys Club. John and his wife are active in their church and children’s schools and have organized and supported several fund raising events.
