Duncan Stocks leads the national U.S. value-added tax (VAT) practice at RSM US LLP and provides global VAT advice to multinational companies and organizations. With a deep understanding of the European Union VAT system, he also guides and interprets the VAT regimes that exist in other jurisdictions. Duncan’s experience of over 30 years covers most industries and business sectors. Prior to joining RSM US, he was a VAT partner at RSM UK, leading its international VAT offerings. He previously worked in the United States for another large global accounting firm.

Duncan advises on VAT liabilities and obligations. He assists clients in managing VAT not only correctly but also efficiently, through understanding business objectives and considering the underlying transactions and operating structure. He advises on the setup, control and management of compliance processes and accounting software. Duncan assists with delivering identified benefits and remediation strategies. Working with colleagues in other countries, Duncan leads the delivery of both consulting and compliance services. Duncan is regularly invited to speak at events and conferences on the technical and practical aspects of VAT.
