About Alan

Alan Atwell is RSM US LLP’s Acceleration Center for Innovation leader providing both assurance and tax services. He is responsible for leading the firm’s innovation center of excellence, which is designed to serve as a strategic incubator. His objectives are to foster an innovative culture and position the firm as the real innovation leader for the middle market.


Experience

As leader for RSM’s Acceleration Center for Innovation, Alan focuses on driving efforts to champion strategic ideation with programs targeted at contributors with all levels of experience. The center utilizes established corporate innovation best practices for evaluating and incubating the best ideas that will further enhance RSM’s role as a compelling digital leader in the middle market.

Alan joined RSM in 2007 as the Carolinas market tax practice leader. While at RSM, he served as the firm’s national tax operations leader with responsibilities including mobilization of the firm’s project management office and national tax technology resources, and coordination with the firm’s subject matter experts and the information technology team to achieve the firm’s strategic goals.

Prior to joining RSM, Alan held various leadership roles of increasing local and national responsibility for an international professional services firm focusing on operational processes and controls for public companies. He began his career in a global public accounting firm, providing both assurance and tax services during his 12-year tenure.

Alan’s passion is assembling and leading cohesive teams, with a specific focus on creating enterprise value while providing opportunities for individual leadership skill development. On a personal level, Alan is actively involved in various Charlotte nonprofit and church boards and he and his family enjoy travel and following their favorite sports teams, particularly the Carolina Panthers.
