Al has been advising clients on tax issues since he joined public accounting in 1979. Al has a broad technical background in corporate tax and is known for his specialized knowledge around ASC 740 accounting standards for income tax. He is skilled in the technical challenges of solving complex problems for clients in order to help RSM be the first-choice advisor to middle market clients globally. He brings vast experience in mergers and acquisitions and co-sourcing and outsourcing to, RSM’s tax mergers and acquisitions team.
As the tax ASC 740 lead, Al supports the firm’s tax practice, combining a deep understanding of corporate tax rules and generally accepted accounting principles governing financial statement tax reporting. In his role, he guides clients through complex tax reporting issues from mergers and acquisitions to global tax issues, integrating a deep knowledge of tax law with a solid understanding of a client’s business.
In an era of changing tax laws and evolving financial reporting rules, Al is focused on monitoring these changes to provide clients with timely insights about the implications for their business. Al is dedicated to assisting clients with easing pain points around tax provision reporting, from providing technical advice to proposing tax provision process and technology solutions.
Prior to joining Washington National Tax, Al served as the Boston tax location lead. He has a passion for mentoring and training the next generation of RSM leaders to help younger professionals advance their career and make partner. Al participates in the firm’s culture, diversity and inclusion initiatives and is a member of the STAR employee network group focused on the advancement of women in the firm. A sports enthusiast, he spent many years coaching his children in youth athletics and can be found supporting his alma mater Penn State during college football season.
