Chatter Central Food prices expected to rise in 2012


While this might not be a surprising development, the USDA expects continued inflation in food prices throughout 2012. From clubs to restaurants and even households will continue to feel cost pressures as the consumer price index (CPI) for food is expected to increase 2.5 to 3.5 percent over 2011 levels. Food-at-home prices are expected to increase 3 to 4 percent and food-away-from-home prices are expected to increase 2 to 3 percent.
