RSM US Foundation’s Power Your Education Program Awards $100K in Scholarships

National program presents 10 students with $10K toward tuition

NEWS RELEASE

CHICAGO,

RSM US LLP (“RSM”) – the nation’s leading provider of audit, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market – is pleased to announce it has selected 10 students to receive $10,000 each toward their 2018/2019 tuition (for a total of $100,000 in scholarships) through the RSM US Foundation's national scholarship program: Power Your Education. In addition to the scholarship, each student also earned an invitation to RSM’s competitive externship program, Pathways, this summer.

Students were selected based on a number of core criteria, including GPA and major; a short answer describing something that makes them unique; and a 30-second video response to the question: “What does RSM’s brand promise – the Power of Being Understood – mean to you?”  Judges assessed essays based on creativity, quality of writing and reflection of the applicant’s individuality, and they evaluated the degree to which each video submission reflected RSM’s core values of respect, integrity, teamwork, excellence and stewardship.

“The RSM US Foundation is honored to offer Power Your Education scholarships for a second year to help talented students on their academic journeys,” said Doug Opheim, chief financial officer and chairman of the RSM US Foundation. “RSM professionals deliver the power of being understood to our clients, colleagues and our communities every day, and we’re excited to extend this philosophy to future leaders through Power Your Education. We know that investing in today’s youth helps builds tomorrow’s middle-market business leaders.”

Other ways that RSM and the RSM US Foundation support the local communities where the firm operates include:

  • Volunteer Day - Established in 2010, RSM US Volunteer Day represents our commitment to giving our time in the communities where we work and live. In 2017, more than 3,100 RSM employees and clients participated in 170 volunteer events across the country. More than 100 charities benefited, including Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity, Second Harvest Food Bank, YMCA, Junior Achievement and many more.
  • Birdies Fore Love – RSM partners with the Davis Love Foundation – host organization of PGA TOUR event The RSM Classic – on Birdies Fore Love. Through the program, each RSM office selects a local charity that supports youth in the areas of education, hunger, housing and health. Each charity benefits from the funds raised locally by employees, clients, family and friends. With a generous match from the RSM US Foundation, we were able to give over $2 million directly to deserving charities in 2017.
