RSM Names Sklenka-Gordon, Wood to New Leadership

Risk advisory services reshaped, aligned with clients’ needs



RSM US LLP (“RSM”) – the nation’s leading provider of audit, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market – is pleased to announce that Kari Sklenka-Gordon has been named national leader of the consulting team’s IT advisory practice, and David Wood has been selected as national leader of systems and process assurance.

In their new roles, Sklenka-Gordon and Wood will be responsible for driving the strategy development and execution of their individual practice areas, with a focus on helping RSM clients address their most complex business challenges by incorporating the data analytics and systems expertise within their practices.

“We’ve transformed our risk advisory services (RAS) practice in response to changes in the marketplace and the future needs of our clients,” said Rob Kastenschmidt, national RAS leader. “Our growth over the last six years afforded us the perfect opportunity to restructure our practice so we’re more closely aligned with our clients’ thinking on the most critical issues affecting their businesses.”

Sklenka-Gordon joined RSM in 2013. Prior to being named the national IT advisory leader, she led RSM’s ERP risk advisory services practice.

Sklenka-Gordon has spent most of her career in IT risk management, working in a variety of roles, including a team member on 35+ ERP implementations and developing an SAP governance, risk and compliance (GRC) function in industry. During her years in public accounting, she worked with more than 100 companies that used SAP. Sklenka-Gordon is a graduate of the University of Akron with a bachelor’s of science and business administration in international business and German. She is CISA certified and a member of ISACA and the IIA.

“I’m very excited to lead this new, growing practice,” commented Sklenka-Gordon. “Our group is highly skilled and intentionally lean and nimble, allowing us to react quickly and innovate new solutions to meet our clients’ needs in today’s fast-moving IT risk environment,” she said. “We also leverage the skills of RSM professionals nationwide in systems and process assurance, IA SOX and technology and management consulting to address clients’ ERP risk and controls, data analytics, BCP and GRC issues.”

More on David Wood
Wood has more than 19 years of experience with internal control assessments related to system and organization controls (SOC) reporting and SOX 404 compliance in multiple industries. Most recently, he served as RSM’s national leader for SOC reporting services. He is a member of various AICPA task forces for SOC reporting and previously served as an Executive Committee Member of the AICPA’s Information Management and Technology Assurance Division, responsible for developing guidance for practitioners and the general public on SOC reporting options.

“RSM’s systems and process assurance practice combines our former service organization assurance solutions with a large segment of our former IT risk practice,” said Wood. “In addition to SOC services, it includes SOX IT general controls, IT for internal audit and FIDICIA services, to name just a few. We number close to 200 professionals, and I’m honored to work closely with so many talented professionals, who are dedicated to helping clients address these complex regulatory and process issues.”

Wood is a CPA and a certified information technology professional. He holds a master’s degree in accounting from Bradley University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Iowa.
