CHICAGO – (July 28, 2022) – RSM US LLP (“RSM”) – the nation’s leading provider of audit, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market – is pleased to announce that the RSM US Foundation recently presented the second of three checks for $100,000 each to Active Minds, Inc., the nation’s leading nonprofit organization supporting mental health awareness and education for young adults.
This recent gift continues RSM’s support of Active Minds’ mission to end the silence and change the conversation about mental health for everyone. It will be used for the Send Silence Packing® display experience; volunteer engagement and expanded Behind the Backpacks content.
"Active Minds is thrilled to continue our work with RSM US," said Becky Fein, vice president of community initiatives with Active Minds. "Their commitment to this touring and virtual display further enhances the powerful messaging and services associated with Send Silence Packing. More than ever, it is critical to have meaningful culture change around mental health. This RSM and Active Minds relationship advances both the discussion and necessary change."
RSM’s support of Active Minds began in 2020 with the donation of $50,000 for the creation of the organization’s online tool, Behind the Backpacks. Funds donated in June 2021 were used to support chapter activation of Behind the Backpacks and integration into Active Minds’ Send Silence Packing® exhibit, which travels across the U.S. to end the silence that surrounds mental health and suicide, and connects visitors with resources for support and action.
“The challenges related to a global pandemic, economic uncertainty, societal issues and numerous other factors over the past few years have highlighted the importance of mental wellbeing,” said Doug Opheim, chief financial officer with RSM US LLP and chair of the RSM US Foundation. “The mission of the RSM US Foundation is to build tomorrow’s middle market business leaders by enhancing educational outcomes and supporting organizations committed to providing stable environments for youth in the areas of hunger, housing and health – including physical and mental health. We hope that our support of Active Minds will help save lives and build stronger families.”
