Paul Guirovich Named Chair of RSM US LLP’s Board of Directors for a One-Year Term, Three New Board Members Selected – Jamie Burgess, Carlos Hernandez, Matt Talcoff

CHICAGO – (December 1, 2022) – RSM US LLP (“RSM”) – the nation's leading provider of audit, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market – recently announced that Paul Guirovich will serve a one-year term as chair of the RSM US LLP Board of Directors, effective Dec. 1, 2022. In addition, three new board members – Jamie Burgess, Carlos Hernandez and Matt Talcoff – have been elected to serve four-year terms, beginning Dec. 1, 2022.

The selection of Guirovich as the new board chair was the result of a vote of the board members. The three new board members were selected as the result of a vote of the firm’s partners and principals.

New board chair

Paul Guirovich is the national private equity tax services leader at RSM. With extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, he ensures that RSM teams deliver the highest level of client service in a seamless, integrated manner that adds value in tax matters critical to funds, their investors and their portfolio companies. He has served as primary advisor to private equity funds focused on multinational investments for more than 17 years. He has deep experience advising companies and institutional investors on tax structuring and considerations for a variety of transactions. He is also relationship lead for several complex clients within the private equity space. With more than 29 years of public accounting experience, Paul brings strategic tax planning experience from many industries, including industrials, financial services, technology and business services, to his engagements. Paul serves as the partner advisor to the Northeast culture, diversity and inclusion leader and is a member of RSM’s Family First employee network group. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Louisiana State University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

New board members

Jamie Burgess is the national leader of risk consulting strategic implementation and operations, a member of the risk consulting executive leadership team, the Florida consulting leader and member of the Florida market leadership team. She has over 20 years of experience, including seven with a Big Four firm. Jamie enhances the reliability of processes and systems to better manage and control risk within a business enterprise. Her primary responsibilities are to provide consulting services focused on clients’ business and information technology needs, including strategy, compliance, risk management and audit services. Jamie’s background includes identifying and evaluating key risks and controls, including compliance with regulatory guidelines. She is based in the Tampa, Florida area and is a certified public accountant in Florida. She holds a Master of Science degree in accounting and taxation from Florida Gulf Coast University, a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Florida State University. She is a founding member of RSM’s Consulting Women’s Advisory Council, chairs the Consulting Solutions Governance Committee, is the business liaison to the Enterprise Security Technology Advisory Committee and serves on multiple other committees, including International Business Travel, Income Allocation Advisory Group, Enterprise Support Services (ESS), Enterprise Client Portal (ECP), Consulting Technology Advisory Committee (CTAC) and the Consulting Strategic Advisory Committee. She is also the risk consulting representative for the enterprise risk management working committee.

Carlos Hernandez is an assurance partner and health care industry leader for RSM US LLP. He is also the leader of ¡HOLA!, RSM’s employee network group supporting Hispanic/Latino employees, and serves as Miami office leader and a member of the firm’s board of directors. He has more than 24 years of public accounting and financial management experience focused in the health care industry. He provides audit, consulting, accounting and review services for a variety of health care clients. His experience includes over 16 years providing audit and consulting services to government-run hospitals, nonprofit hospitals, multi-hospital health care systems, physician practices, hospice and palliative care organizations, home health agencies, federally qualified health centers, private equity-funded health care organizations, long-term care facilities, dental offices, retirement communities, behavioral health facilities and related foundations. Before joining RSM, Carlos served as the assistant vice president of finance and member of the executive team of a major medical center, responsible for the strategic and operational direction of the facility and for accounting, payroll, admitting, insurance verification, central scheduling, cashiering and revenue cycle-related projects. He facilitated national trainings, led eight teams on a hospital-wide revenue cycle initiative that resulted in significant net revenue improvement, and led two hospital-wide computer conversions. He is a certified public accountant in Florida, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants health care conference committee (former chair in 2016 and 2018), a former board member for the Alzheimers Association, Central and North Florida Chapter and serves on the HFMA Florida Chapter south region education committee. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from MacMurray College.

Matt Talcoff is the firm’s Washington National Tax leader and is based in Boston, Massachusetts and Washington D.C. Matt is a member of the firm’s tax and industry leadership teams and served as RSM’s first national tax industry leader, consumer products tax leader and national investment fund executive leader. He was a leading member of the firm’s client advisory response team during the pandemic.  He served on the tax policy team, and as a member of the steering committees for RSM’s initiatives on foreign direct investment, Web 3.0, global bilateral efforts, client experience and customer relationship management. He has over 30 years of experience assisting clients with tax compliance and planning, transaction advisory services, and streamlining, integration and automation of their tax and financial accounting, compliance, research, and knowledge management systems. Matt has worked with both public and privately held companies. His areas of focus include retail and consumer products and working with investment fund executives. He is a certified public accountant in Massachusetts, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, and advisory board member of the Bentley University Accounting Department. He chaired the Economic Development Advisory Committee for Needham, Mass., served on the New England Business Center Advisory Committee and participated in the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce’s Future Leaders Program. He earned a Master of Science in taxation and a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Bentley University. Matt is married to Ruby Chan and has four children.
