CHICAGO – (July 7, 2022) – RSM US LLP ("RSM") – the nation’s leading provider of audit, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market – is pleased to announce that Tracey Walker, the firm’s national leader of culture, diversity and inclusion – was recently recognized with the AICPA and CPA Practice Advisor’s 2022 Most Powerful Women in Accounting Award for her significant contributions to the profession.
The AICPA and CPA Practice Advisor partner each year to honor those professionals as the Most Powerful Women in Accounting, women who have emerged as the most influential leaders shaping the profession. While many are directly engaged in client-serving practice, others help lead the profession through professional organizations, as consultants or in media, academia, technology development or other influential roles.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, women are increasingly becoming the face of public accounting and financial management, with 62% of all accountant and auditor roles now being held by female professionals. Women are also increasingly assuming leadership roles within firms. While still only about 27% of firm partners and principals are women, they now account for a third of management committee roles, about double that of a decade ago, based on recent data.
Qualifications for selection of the Most Powerful Women in Accounting Awards, which have been presented annually since 2012, include:
“We are proud that Tracey has been named as one of this year’s Most Powerful Women in Accounting,” said Joe Adams, managing partner and CEO with RSM US LLP. “Her unwavering commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion, not only at RSM but in the industry overall, is enhancing the field of accounting and helping to make careers in the profession compelling and relevant for an increasingly diverse talent base who will help continue to add value to increasingly complex client needs.”
“Inclusion is a team effort and we are all architects of inclusive culture,” said Walker. “We are finally seeing inclusion integrating into daily business actions with intention. I am honored to serve as a catalyst to help teams, leaders, firms and the profession see how culture, diversity, equity and inclusion are improving the talent experience. Thank you to the AICPA and CPA Practice Advisor for this recognition. I am truly humbled.”
Nominations for the 2022 awards were open to the public on the AICPA and CPA Practice Advisor websites, with final selection of recipients determined by an independent panel of judges. Nominations for 2023 will open in November 2022 at the Women's Global Leadership Conference.
