RSM US Foundation Awards 10 Students with Scholarships Toward Tuition

CHICAGO – (April 27, 2020) – RSM US LLP (“RSM”) – the nation’s leading provider of audit, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market –  is pleased to announce it has selected 10 students to receive scholarships toward their 2020/2021 tuition through the RSM US Foundation's national scholarship program: Power Your Education. Additionally, each student earned an invitation to RSM’s competitive Pathways Summer Leadership Program.

The winners were selected based on a number of core criteria, including: a short answer describing something that makes them unique; pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in business or technology; and a 30-second video response to the question: “What does RSM’s brand promise – the Power of Being Understood – mean to you?” Judges assessed the essays based on creativity, quality of writing and reflection of the applicant’s individuality, and the degree to which each video submission reflected RSM’s core values of respect, integrity, teamwork, excellence and stewardship.

Each student will receive a $10,000 scholarship toward their business or technology related undergraduate degree (for a total of $100,000 in scholarships). This year’s scholarship winners are:

“It’s an honor to continue our Power Your Education program for the fourth straight year,” said Doug Opheim, chief financial officer and chairperson of the RSM US Foundation. “It means a lot to the RSM US Foundation to be able to help these talented and promising students on their educational journeys, and to make a difference for the next generation of business leaders.”

Additional ways that RSM and the RSM US Foundation support the local communities where the firm operates include:

  • Volunteer Week – Since 2010, RSM employees have taken time away from the office to help others through a coordinated firm-wide Volunteer Day. RSM’s day of giving back has grown so much that in 2019, the firm decided to expand it to an entire week to maximize the volunteer impact on our communities. While RSM’s people regularly give back to their local communities, RSM Volunteer Week represents part of our firm’s commitment to the communities where our people work and live.
  • Birdies Fore Love – Making an impact in the communities where we live and work is one of RSM’s greatest triumphs. Through Birdies Fore Love, our caring professionals go above and beyond to support children and families across the nation. Birdies Fore Love (BFL) is RSM’s charitable giving platform for The RSM Classic, an event on the PGA TOUR which RSM title sponsors. Each year, RSM offices commit to raising funds for local charitable organizations aligned with the missions of the RSM US Foundation and the Davis Love Foundation, the host organization of The RSM Classic. These efforts are supported by matching donations from the RSM US Foundation.
