CHICAGO – (November 19, 2019) – RSM US LLP (“RSM”) – the nation’s leading provider of audit, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market – was pleased to recently present the Davis Love Foundation with a check for $3.8 million as a result of the firm’s employee-led Birdies Fore Love (BFL) campaign in connection with the 10th RSM Classic.
Birdies Fore Love is RSM’s charitable giving platform for The RSM Classic, a PGA TOUR event, for which RSM is title sponsor. Through BFL, RSM’s people in the U.S. and in Canada, supported with a matching donation from the RSM US Foundation, raised these funds for nonprofit organizations focused on enhancing educational outcomes and the quality of life for children and families.
“RSM and the game of golf share the core values of respect, integrity, teamwork, excellence and stewardship,” said Joe Adams, managing partner and CEO with RSM US LLP. “It’s in the spirit of stewardship that we’re honored to sponsor The RSM Classic. The philanthropic aspect of the game resonates with our clients and with our people, who have an unwavering focus on making the world a better place by leaving things better than they find them.”
Last year, RSM, in conjunction with the PGA TOUR, announced an expansion of the RSM BFL program through an on-course competition over the first eight events of the 2018-19 PGA TOUR season. This year, they expanded the on-course program further, bringing the grand total raised for charity through the on-course competition to more than $1 million.
“We are thrilled to expand our successful Birdies Fore Love program to PGA TOUR professionals,” said Chief Marketing Officer Andy Bosman. “It has extended our stewardship through the first 11 events of the season, and I can’t wait to see who will win the overall prize after this year’s RSM Classic.”
Through the on-course BFL competition, winning players are encouraged to designate the funds to charitable organizations dedicated to building tomorrow’s middle market leaders through programs that support education, as well as organizations committed to improving the lives of youth through a focus on hunger, housing and health.
“We’re humbled to be able to support the communities where our people live and work,” said Doug Opheim, chief financial officer with RSM US LLP and chair of the RSM US Foundation. “The RSM Classic provides a great avenue for us to give back, and this year’s Birdies Fore Love donation brings the grand total raised during the first 10 years of The RSM Classic to more than $17 million. Thanks to the support of our 11,000 people across the U.S. and in Canada, and the leadership of our firm’s Birdies Fore Love efforts this year by Laura Shen and Chris Waddail, we’re proud to have raised $3.8 million this year.”
“We are appreciative of RSM’s title sponsorship of The RSM Classic and of their support for the Sea Island community, as well as the other communities where RSM’s people live and work,” said Team RSM member, 21-time PGA TOUR winner, 2017 Golf Hall of Fame Inductee and CBS Sports golf analyst Davis Love III. “‘The power of being understood’ is more than just a saying for RSM. They truly do understand – the needs of their clients, their people and the community, and they strive to help all of them achieve their goals. We’re proud to partner with RSM on this event, and are honored to be able to magnify our efforts to support the community.”
The 2020 RSM Classic is scheduled for Nov. 16 through Nov. 22 at Sea Island Golf Club in Georgia’s Golden Isles.
