CHICAGO – (February 15, 2019) – RSM US LLP (“RSM”) – the nation’s leading provider of audit, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market and title sponsor of The RSM Classic, an official PGA TOUR event hosted by the Davis Love Foundation – is proud to congratulate Team RSM Member Davis Love III on his recent receipt of the 2019 Charlie Bartlett Award, given by the Golf Writers Association of America (GWAA) to professional golfers who make contributions to the betterment of society.
Love, a longtime resident of Sea Island, Georgia, home of The RSM Classic, created the Davis Love Foundation, beneficiary of The RSM Classic, in 2005. The tournament and its Birdies Fore Love program has raised more than $13 million since 2010, with funds supporting local and national charitable organizations aligned with the RSM US Foundation of building tomorrow’s middle market business leaders by:
“At RSM, we’ve had an unwavering focus on stewardship since our firm was founded in 1926. And, we are thrilled to have been able to establish such an impactful way to support the communities where our people live and work through our sponsorship of The RSM Classic and our involvement with Birdies Fore Love,” said Andy Bosman, chief marketing officer with RSM US LLP. “Our people are passionate about helping those less fortunate than themselves, and we’re humbled to have Davis as a member of Team RSM.”
A member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, Love has won 21 PGA TOUR titles, including the 1992 and 2003 Players and the 1997 PGA. He is a two-time Ryder Cup captain, and guided the U.S. to victory over Europe in 2016.
He has also been the recipient of the highest service awards presented by the PGA TOUR and the United States Golf Association, the Payne Stewardship Award in 2008 and the Bob Jones Award in 2013.
Past winners of the Bartlett Award, named for former Chicago Tribune writer and first secretary of the GWAA, include fellow Hall of Fame members such as Ernie Els, Greg Norman, Tiger Woods, Tom Watson, Gene Sarazen, Jack Nicklaus, Billy Casper, Lee Trevino, Patty Sheehan, Betsy King and Lorena Ochoa.
“I’m honored to receive this meaningful award from the GWAA and to be associated with such a distinguished list of former recipients,” Love said in a statement. “I caught on early with my dad hosting a PGA Tour event and me playing in so many to know what [giving back] meant. Then, watching Arnie [Palmer] and Jack [Nicklaus] and all of them as their careers wound down and they created tournaments and kept giving back. I’m happy to give back to something that’s given so much to me.”
Love will be honored April 10 at the ISPS GWAA 47th Annual Awards Dinner in Augusta, GA., the night before the first round of the Masters.
The tenth annual RSM Classic is scheduled for Nov. 18 – 24, 2019 at Sea Island Golf Club on St. Simons Island, Georgia.
