RSM US LLP (“RSM”) – the nation’s leading provider of audit, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market – and The CEO Forum Group are pleased to announce the sixth episode of “The Middle Market Transformative CEO,” featuring guest Drew French, founder and president of Your Pie

The episode was recorded at this year’s ninth annual RSM Classic, a PGA TOUR tournament hosted by the Davis Love Foundation. It aired over 25 nationally-syndicated AM radio stations Sun., Nov. 24 and is now also available as a podcast.

Co-hosts Robert Reiss, founder and CEO of The CEO Forum Group, and RSM Chief Economist Joe Brusuelas, speak with French about the creative concept of Your Pie, how the company is addressing a tight labor market, and strategies around innovation and growth.

Some of the key topics discussed during this episode of “The Middle Market Transformative CEO” are: sourcing ingredients and implementing a supply chain to align with a business model; competing in the industry to attract talent that is the right cultural fit; developing an expansion strategy; the importance of understanding the company’s customer base and leveraging that information to tailor the consumer experience; and adapting to technological advancements.

“The world is evolving with third-party delivery services and people wanting to order from their phones,” said French, explaining how the company has adapted to new technology. “That’s forced us to try to make that an easier experience for our customers and for our team. Now, as we build stores, we’re not just adding technology, but we’re laying out the stores so we can cater to those third-party deliveries and online orderings."

Concerning the company’s app, French said, “We were very early adopters. We’re always trying to improve and evolve it.”

Regarding his advice to entrepreneurs who would like to go into a market that is highly saturated, French explained:  “If you are going to enter a highly competitive market with dense competition, you have to be different. When we thought about pizza, we knew we couldn’t just be another pizza place. We looked at what everyone else was doing and tried to do it differently.”

“Others are doing what we are doing now in a similar style, so we have to continue to push the envelope,” continued French. “That would be my suggestion to any entrepreneur: try and be different and really set yourself apart.”
