RSM US Foundation Announces $157,100 Donation to University of Iowa

RSM US LLP (“RSM”) – the nation’s leading provider of audit, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market – is pleased to announce a $157,100 gift from the RSM US Foundation to the University of Iowa. The donation will be used to establish the school’s RSM Excellence Fund, which is designated for a variety of initiatives in the accounting department in the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa.

“This gift is made possible through the generous contributions from RSM colleagues who are University of Iowa alumni, as well as the RSM US Foundation,” said Joe McCarragher, a partner with RSM US LLP, and a graduate of the University of Iowa. “I am honored to be a part of establishing the RSM Fund of Excellence, and grateful to RSM’s support, as we strive to continue to enhance educational outcomes for today’s students, and tomorrow’s business leaders.”

“RSM has been focused on supporting the communities where our people live and work since the firm began in 1926,” said Doug Opheim, chief financial officer and chairman of the RSM US Foundation. “We are happy to partner with the University of Iowa to provide funds to establish the RSM Excellence Fund, and we look forward to continuing to work with the accounting department at Iowa University as a source of talent for our firm.”

 “This generous gift from RSM is critical to our department’s ability to deliver outstanding educational experiences for accounting majors,” said Dan Collins, DEO of accounting in the Tippie College, underscoring the importance of the RSM financial commitment to the department. “This funding will be used to bring in prominent outside speakers from the profession, pay for data bases used in classroom instruction, support our writing program and help with the recruitment of students from diverse and under-represented student populations.”

The RSM US Foundation is a tax-exempt public charity dedicated to building tomorrow’s middle market leaders by supporting educational outcomes through programs for individuals to have career paths to become entrepreneurs or middle market business leaders, and supporting organizations committed to providing a more stable environments for youth in the areas of hunger, housing and health, which help them excel in education. • Birdies Fore Love – RSM partners with the Davis Love Foundation – host organization of PGA TOUR event The RSM Classic – on Birdies Fore Love. Through the program, each RSM office selects a local charity that supports youth in the areas of education, hunger, housing and health. Each charity benefits from the funds raised locally by employees, clients, family and friends. With a generous match from the RSM US Foundation, we were able to give over $2 million directly to deserving charities in 2017.
  
  
• The RSM US Foundation’s national scholarship program – Every day, RSM professionals deliver the power of being understood to today’s middle market leaders, globally. To build tomorrow’s leaders, the foundation is granting $100,000 in scholarships for the 2018-2019 academic year. Scholarship recipients will also receive invitations to participate in RSM’s externship (Pathways) program.
