RSM US LLP (“RSM”) – the nation’s leading provider of audit, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market and title sponsor of The RSM Classic – is pleased to congratulate Charles Howell III on winning the 2018 RSM Classic!

Howell III went head to head in a two-hole playoff against Patrick Rodgers. After the pair returned to the 18th hole for the first extra playoff hole, Howell's putt was just short. The duo played the 18th hole again with Howell beating Rodgers and finishing the day at 19 under overall. This was Howell's third PGA TOUR victory and first win in 11 years.

“Congratulations, Charles on joining the RSM ‘family’ with your win of the 2018 RSM Classic,” said Joe Adams, managing partner and CEO with RSM US LLP. “This tournament has become a part of the very fabric of our firm, and we’re thrilled to welcome Charles as part of our firm’s rich history, along with previous RSM Classic winners Austin Cook, Mac Hughes, Kevin Kisner, Robert Streb, Chris Kirk, Tommy Gainey, Ben Crane and Heath Slocum. Welcome to RSM, Charles!”

“After nine years of sponsoring The RSM Classic, the parallels between the game of golf and RSM are obvious, particularly our shared focus on stewardship,” said Doug Opheim, chief financial officer with RSM US LLP and chairman of the RSM US Foundation.

“The RSM Classic provides a worldwide stage for us to give back to the communities where our people live and work through the RSM Birdies Fore Love program, Youth Day and Military Appreciation Day. With a matching gift from the RSM US Foundation, we were able to provide $2.8 million to deserving children- and family-focused nonprofit organizations through Birdies Fore Love this year, bringing the grand total raised through the tournament since its 2010 inception to more than $12 million, and donations are still coming in! It’s our honor to be able to support the community in such a meaningful way.”

Proceeds from this year’s RSM Classic will benefit national and local charitable organizations aligned with the RSM US Foundation’s mission of building tomorrow’s middle market business leaders by supporting organizations committed to provide stable environments for youth in the areas of education, hunger, housing and health.

Also during this year’s tournament, RSM presented a $150,000 check to establish the Peter A.S. Pfeiffer Scholarship for Courage with Folds of Honor, a national nonprofit focused on providing educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members. The scholarship is named in honor of Pfieffer’s leadership at RSM and with its Stars & Stripes employee network group; his involvement with Folds of Honor and his service to our country.

“Including Folds of Honor in The RSM Classic is an honor,” said Bill Gorman, chief operating officer with RSM US LLP. “Having grown up in a military family, I appreciate the love of country and the sacrifices of those who serve, as well as their families. Our Stars & Stripes employee network group, along with the rest of our nearly 10,000 people nationwide, take great pride in supporting our nation’s veterans, and we’re humbled to be able to support the families of those who have been injured or lost their lives while serving our country.”

The 2018 RSM Classic included a concert by country music singer John Pardi, a golf clinic for children and a putting contest with PGA TOUR professionals, Boys & Girls Club representatives and Special Olympics athletes, with RSM executives serving as caddies.

“The RSM Classic is one of the highlights of the PGA TOUR each year, and that’s due in large part to the 1,100+ volunteers who support the tournament every November,” said Andy Bosman, chief marketing officer with RSM US LLP. “Without them, this tournament and the good that it does for the community, wouldn’t be possible. I look forward each year to reconnecting with our volunteers, and am already looking forward to next year, when we’ll celebrate the tenth anniversary of The RSM Classic!”

The 2019 RSM Classic is scheduled for Nov. 18 through Nov.24 at Sea Island Golf Club in Georgia’s Golden Isles.
