Morgan Souza is a senior manager in the exempt organizations group of the Washington National Tax office of RSM US LLP.
Morgan has over 15 years of experience in tax planning and compliance for tax-exempt organizations. Her experience includes serving as a technical resource and providing tax compliance and consulting services for exempt organizations and their donors. Morgan also represents exempt organizations before the Internal Revenue Service with respect to IRS examinations, private letter rulings, and applications for recognition of tax-exempt status.
Morgan regularly consults with internal firm tax personnel, external client personnel, and RSM Alliance firm members, addressing tax technical issues in response to Washington National Tax inquiries, planning opportunities, and anticipated transactions. She also advises private equity and hedge funds with respect to tax-exempt investors, including the use of blocker corporations, transitory indebtedness, and unrelated business taxable income.
With extensive knowledge and experience in tax technical issues, Morgan teaches various tax technical courses both internally and externally at the national level. In addition, she develops and publishes technical guidance and educational materials to support RSM professionals and clients.
Prior to joining RSM, Morgan spent more than thirteen years in the exempt organizations tax practice of a Big Four accounting firm, providing tax compliance services and advising clients on a variety of tax issues.
