Increased focus on SCRA enforcement
AML AND COMPLIANCE NEWS |
The Department of Justice (DOJ) unveiled the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act Enforcement Support Pilot Program, which will support enforcement efforts related to the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA). Under the program, additional Assistant U.S. Attorneys, trial attorneys and military judge advocates (JAG) will support the DOJ’s SCRA enforcement efforts. U.S. Attorneys across the country will also appoint Initiative Liaisons to work with local military and veteran communities.
With the additional manpower made available by the pilot program, the DOJ has stated they “will investigate complaints promptly and vigorously take enforcement action against wrongdoers.” The initiative will begin in Washington and North Carolina, but will spread throughout the country.
