Changes to HMDA data submission begin in 2017
AML AND COMPLIANCE NEWS |
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB or Bureau) updated its website with information about the changes to the submission process for Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) data beginning in 2018. HMDA data obtained in 2017 for 2018 submission will be submitted to the CFPB using its web interface, HMDA Platform. Institutions will be required to file directly with the HMDA Platform as the Data Entry Software (DES) provided by the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) will no longer be available to institutions.
The Bureau provides the Filing Instructions Guide (FIG) for 2017, which provides useful information regarding the file format for submission and the need for a software solution for data entry. We would recommend keeping a copy of the FIG close by as it contains valuable information.
The CFPB and FFIEC have recently released the 2017 Loan/Application Register (LAR) Formatting Tool and related instructions, which are available on the Bureau’s website. They have also updated the following resources:
