2017 venture capital trends summary

Download Report

Venture capital industry deal flow during the first half of 2017 was a near-record half, only trailing 2015 and 2016 during the last 10 years. Fueling this activity level was record exits that occurred in 2014 and 2015, both through the initial public offerings (IPO) process and mergers and acquisition (M&A) deals. This volume of exits ignited a euphoria among the fund managers who were willing to invest in deals at higher pre-money valuations in companies that could be the next Uber, Twitter, Facebook or WhatsApp.

With data from Thomson Reuters and National Venture Capital Association, Hitesh Kothari, assurance partner at RSM, examines U.S. venture capital activity in the first half of 2017. The report offers an array of insights into the current U.S. venture capital landscape, including deal flow analysis, exit activity and valuation trends.
