Victor Kao is a risk consulting partner with RSM US LLP, providing a blend of services around accounting, operations and information technology. He leads a wide spectrum of projects, including audit and Sarbanes-Oxley Act implementation and sustainability of SOX programs for business and IT. He was selected as a senior analyst in the inaugural class of RSM’s cutting-edge Industry Eminence Program, covering the technology, media and entertainment sector.
Victor has more than 20 years of experience in building global, best-practice internal audit and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance programs, as well as an extensive background in readiness and preparation of system organization control reports. As an advisor, consultant, and enterprise thinker, Victor leverages the full strength of the firm to help clients prepare for initial public offerings from a business and IT standpoint. He has substantial IT risk advisory experience leading and coordinating ERP software selections and implementations, IT general controls review, segregation of duties analysis, and cybersecurity.
Prior to joining RSM, Victor served in senior management roles in a variety of industries, including technology, media and entertainment; telecommunications; consumer products, and financial services. In his prior experience at a Big Four firm, he led SOX and SAP implementations for major motion picture studios. As his career developed, Victor focused his core subject matter expertise on technology.
As a senior technology analyst in RSM’s Industry Eminence Program, Victor advises clients on conditions affecting middle market businesses. His comprehensive industry training helps him understand, forecast, and communicate economic, business, and technology trends shaping the industry. The eminence program is known for bringing the best of the enterprise together, connecting senior analysts to senior leadership across the United States for the benefit of clients.
Victor has participated in RSM’s culture, diversity, and inclusion efforts since their inception. He currently serves as the Orange County office executive sponsor for InspirAsian, the firm’s employee network group providing support and guidance for the firm’s Asian professionals. He also serves on the board of directors for Ascend, the largest Pan-Asian network of professionals in North America. Victor was formerly the West region leader of RSM’s Family First ENG. Victor appreciates RSM’s forward-thinking stance on diversity and its role in helping the firm’s professionals understand and process social movements over the last few years.
