Tom Chrzanowski leads RSM’s national property tax practice and advises public and privately held companies on state and local tax matters. With 30 years of experience in public accounting and the legal profession, he helps organizations address multistate tax planning, compliance, audits and appeals opportunities across a range of industries.
Tom brings 30 years of experience in public accounting and the legal profession to his work helping clients navigate complex state and local tax matters. More than 10 years of practicing law have given him a practical, advocacy-oriented perspective that helps organizations evaluate state and local tax matters to manage risk and improve outcomes. He advises multinational, public and privately held companies on a broad range of state and local tax issues, including property tax, sales tax, income tax, multistate nexus, tax planning and compliance.
In his current role, Tom leads RSM’s national property tax practice and Indiana state and local tax practice. He works with teams across the country to help clients manage personal property tax filings, evaluate state and local tax positions, respond to audit inquiries, pursue personal and real property tax appeals, and seek refunds for real property transfer tax and sales and use tax refunds.
Tom has served companies across the technology, industrial, consumer products, manufacturing, wholesale and distribution sectors, including companies with multistate and international operations.
Tom is motivated by helping clients bring clarity to complex state and local tax issues and by coaching teams to deliver responsive, practical service. He draws on his legal background, tax research capabilities, negotiation skills and administrative hearing experience to help clients reduce risk, identify opportunities, secure refunds and address disputes with taxing authorities.
