Thomas Hamill is a senior manager in the transaction tax automation practice and a consumer products senior analyst for RSM US LLP. He assists clients with managing indirect tax requirements through process improvement and digital innovation. In addition, as a member of the firm’s Industry Eminence Program, Thomas works alongside the firm’s chief economist and his fellow senior analysts to understand, forecast and communicate economic, business and technology trends affecting middle market businesses.
Thomas frequently supports initiatives that strive to automate the calculation, validation and compliance functions of tax processes which may include sales/use tax and a number of global indirect taxes. In addition to automation, he is well versed in an array of indirect tax consulting focuses such as process analysis and improvement, contractual registrations, refund analysis, voluntary disclosures, taxability studies, nexus analysis, and audit defense.
Thomas has successfully implemented tax engines such as Avalara AvaTax, Vertex and Thomson Reuters OneSource with an array of financial platforms including NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, Magento, Shopify and others. Thomas supports clients in a variety of industries; however, he invests much of his time in the consumer products sector.
