Murat has more than 30 years of experience in public accounting, primarily in tax, serving fast-growing businesses conducting global operations in the consumer products, industrial and manufacturing sectors. Murat’s focus includes pass-through entities such as S corporations, partnerships, and C corporations with a multistate presence and which either sell to or maintain a subsidiary presence in international markets.
In his dual role at RSM, Murat brings to client relationships the firm’s resources and capabilities within the U.S. and around the globe. These engagements are industry focused, are tailored to each client’s business needs, and provide solutions to domestic and global compliance and planning needs. Under Murat’s leadership, RSM manages the global business and compliance needs of more than 50 clients with operations in over 100 countries.
Murat coordinates the annual compliance process for his clients but, just as importantly, he advocates for them, maintaining strong communication to learn about their business issues, strategizing, and offering thought leadership on ideas to help reduce present and future tax liabilities. He often advises on complex domestic and global income tax provisions, such as deferred income taxes for large and publicly traded companies. He also represents clients in areas of tax controversy, including the handling of IRS and state audits and the resolution of tax notices. Murat serves as the tax lead on risk management/Sarbanes-Oxley section 404 engagements for RSM’s Mid-Atlantic client base. In that role, he assists clients with tax documentation, implementation of controls, and testing for SOX 404 consulting engagement.
