Claire Blanton is a partner and the independence, compliance and ethics leader for RSM US LLP. She is a member of the AICPA Professional Ethics Executive Committee and has extensive experience interacting with regulators, including the SEC, PCAOB and AICPA.
Claire is passionate about the firm’s impact and influence in the regulated public accounting environment. She leverages her broad experience to oversee the firm’s compliance with regulatory and risk management matters, including domestic and global independence requirements. Her regulatory oversight responsibilities include ensuring the firm’s compliance with state board-certified public accountant requirements, state licensing requirements, governmental regulations, regulatory reporting and continuing professional education requirements.
Claire’s extensive experience includes developing effective risk management strategies, evaluating the firm’s operations, and providing audit services across various industries encompassing professional sports, real estate, insurance, private equity and hospitality. She collaborates with both internal and external counsel to lead the design, implementation and execution of effective systems of quality control to help ensure the firm’s compliance with applicable laws and regulatory rules.
With a deep interest in global matters, Claire is a member of the firm’s global strategy group, global advisory team and the RSM International network’s independence committee. While directing numerous new member firm due diligence teams and quality inspection teams, she demonstrates her commitment to quality and excellence. Claire mentors many RSM professionals and partners and strives to create a diverse, inclusive, caring team that consistently exhibits RSM’s values.
Claire has also served the firm by developing and implementing the firm’s Appendix K program to qualify RSM member firms as principal auditors of US issuers, which allowed her to form deep relationships with many RSM global leaders. She has also served as a member of the firm’s audit quality and risk team, working with engagement teams during PCAOB and other regulatory inspections and leading the design and implementation of RSM’s quality control system for PCAOB Form AP.
Claire is an avid runner, yoga practitioner and gardener who loves spending time at the beach. She also enjoys volunteering with the elderly population in her community.
