Sara Lord, RSM’s Chief Auditor, recently was appointed as chair of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Auditing Standards Board (ASB). The ASB is the AICPA’s senior committee for auditing, attestation and quality control standards applicable to the performance and issuance of audit and attestation reports for nonissuers.

“We’re pleased that the AICPA chose Sara to chair the ASB,” said Joel Shamon, RSM’s National Audit Leader. “Sara is an auditor’s auditor and, more importantly, she has a deep understanding of the needs of clients and users of financial statements. She brings many years of meaningful experience to the standard-setting process. Her auditing experience coupled with her extensive contributions to the profession make her an excellent choice.”

Sara has 25 years of experience with public company and private company auditing and accounting technical issues. She joined RSM’s National Professional Standards Group as a partner in 2012, after working for both a regional accounting firm and a Big Four accounting firm in a variety of roles, including audit client service, national office consultation, and global regulatory and public policy work. In her current role at RSM, Sara oversees the firm’s audit policies, accounting policies, quality management, audit innovation and audit technology. Sara also is a member of the RSM US LLP Board of Directors.
