Summary of experience
David provides a diverse range of property & casualty (P&C) actuarial, insurance management and enterprise risk management consulting services for large financial institutions and clients in various other industries. He leads several complex model development initiatives in the area of economic capital and risk modeling, Appointed Actuary and External Peer Review engagements, and model validation and model risk management engagements for Canadian and U.S. clients.
David has experience leading teams in areas of corporate and strategic planning, capital adequacy assessment, insurance risk management, and model risk management programs at a large Canadian insurance company. He led the company’s Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) and Dynamic Capital Adequacy Testing (DCAT) processes, through which he accrued extensive knowledge of capital adequacy assessment methodologies and techniques, regulatory capital frameworks and guidelines, and enterprise risk management. He also led the company’s actuarial challenge function, a team responsible for peer reviewing and challenging actuarial analyses and risk models throughout the company, including but not limited to product design, pricing, underwriting, sales & distribution, claims handling, reserving, reinsurance and asset management.
David also has consulting experience with a large global insurance broker, where he provided a variety of property & casualty actuarial consulting services to large professional services firms, including pricing, reserving, capital modelling, insurance and reinsurance program design and captive management.
