Dara serves as the national leader for RSM’s STAR employee network group, which advocates for women in the workplace with a focus on stewardship, teamwork, advancement and retention opportunities. As the leader of RSM’s women’s initiative, Dara focuses on the retention and advancement of RSM women, including leading the strategy and development of programs and initiatives that address gender diversity in our workplace, workforce, community and marketplace. She often speaks on women’s professional challenges and gender diversity issues at RSM and professional development organization events.
Under Dara’s leadership, STAR developed a series of training programs for RSM’s high-performing women that facilitates networking across lines of business, career growth and personal development. Dara has also lead the effort to provide insights to firm leaders about gender equality and hosted a women’s leadership meeting including all female partners, principals and senior operations leaders. This meeting provided an opportunity for the firm’s top leadership to discuss gender diversity and how to advance and retain more women at RSM and in the accounting industry.
Summary of experience
Dara is the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area Offices market leader and the national leader of RSM’s government contracting practice. As the market leader, she is responsible for the culture, growth and strategy of RSM’s four Washington area offices as well as developing employees to have deep industry expertise to serve as first choice advisors to the middle market, globally. Leading this practice includes working with closely held, private equity backed, and publicly traded entities in the market to deliver the power of being understood.
In her industry leadership role, Dara leads audit, tax and consulting as advisors to government contractors across a variety industries, customer bases and organizational structures. She draws upon the vast resources of the firm to design teams that bring value to government contract clients leveraging RSM’s deep knowledge, experience and capabilities in serving this complex and dynamic industry.
STAR employee network group
Through STAR, members have opportunities for mentorship, sponsorship, specialized training and community service. They also have access to national organizations and events that provide professional development for women, including the AICPA’s Global Women’s Leadership Conference.
The STAR women’s network is RSM’s largest employee network group with more than 3,000 members across the firm. It supports the advancement and retention of women by promoting advocacy, allyship and sponsorship and by providing professional development to our women through networking, business development and growth skills opportunities.
