Summary of experience
Carol C. Lapidus, CPA, is a partner at RSM US LLP, based in the New York office, and is the firm’s national leader of the Consumer Products Industry Group. She has served clients as an accountant and consultant for over 30 years.
Carol’s strengths include strategic, financial and general business planning. She advises clients on organizational structure, licensing, international operations, mergers and acquisitions, cost containment, inventory management and long-term planning. Carol also assists clients in identifying, negotiating and securing financing and equity.
Carol primarily works with privately held and private equity owned middle-market businesses. She concentrates on the consumer products industry, working with senior executives of importers, designers, manufacturers and retailers. Carol is one of the firm’s most experienced partners in the area of royalty audits, which she performs for clients in the consumer products and entertainment sectors. She is also a member of the Employee Benefit Plans Practice.
In 1994, Carol became the first woman in the history of Goldstein Golub Kessler & Company, P.C., to be voted into the partnership. Partners of that firm joined McGladrey in 2007. Carol has been honored by the Accountants and Bankers section of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of New York City and the American Jewish Congress.
Carol is a former member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Council. Council determines AICPA programs and policies, and consists of approximately 250 members from every state and U.S. territory.
An active member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA), Carol has chaired several committees, leadership conferences and retail accounting conferences. She was previously Vice President in charge of Strategic Planning and served on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. She has chaired the Member Benefits Committee, General Committee on Accounting and Auditing and Retail Committee, and served on the Apparel and Textile Committee.
Carol has spoken on topics including industry updates, financial statement analysis and review before such groups as the NYSSCPA, the National Association of Credit Managers, the Women’s Presidents Organization, Association for Corporate Growth, the New York Credit and Financial Management Association and the American Society of Women Accountants.
