Partner and Audit Practice Leader, Southeast Region
Brandon Rucker is the audit practice leader for RSM US LLP in the southeast region. He leads a team of more than 700 audit professionals serving middle market and multinational companies in all aspects of audit, financial reporting and merger and acquisition transactions. He is a current member of the RSM US LLP Board of Directors.
Brandon has more than 25 years of experience in public accounting and first joined RSM in 1996. As audit practice leader, he is responsible for understanding, forecasting and communicating economic, business and technology trends shaping middle market businesses. He brings a depth of knowledge in risk and financial operations from his experience working with RSM’s national office of risk management and finance teams. As a member of the RSM board of directors, Brandon serves on several committees, including partner matters, finance/mergers and acquisitions, and risk oversight. He graduated in the first cohort of RSM’s Enterprise Leadership Academy.
As an audit partner with the firm for the past 15 years, Brandon has served a wide array of clients, including public and private companies and private equity-backed businesses in a variety of industries, with a specialization in industrials and transportation. He has held many leadership roles in the firm, including in the audit practice for the Charlotte, North Carolina, office and the Securities and Exchange Commission practice in the southeast region. He spent four years at a Big Four firm, where he participated in audits of global Fortune 100 companies.
Brandon is passionate about preserving, protecting and building the culture at RSM. As a member of the board, his aim is to ensure that every decision the firm makes takes into account its impact on the culture. He believes RSM’s strong culture is a key to the firm’s success and a great asset in developing, attracting and retaining the right people. As a longstanding client server, Brandon thinks with a client-first mindset. He is dedicated to finding solutions for clients, providing his knowledgeable perspective to ensure their success, and bringing the full capabilities of the firm to every client, whether in audit, tax and/or consulting.
As the executive sponsor of the firm’s generations employee network group (ENG) for the Charlotte office, Brandon is active in helping to bridge the divide between colleagues of different eras. He was a past board member of the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance focused on economic development in Charlotte and surrounding areas and has served on numerous committees of the United Way of Central Carolinas.
Born and raised in an agricultural community in rural Kentucky, Brandon is proud of the fact that he’s a first-generation college student. His upbringing instilled a strong work ethic and taught him to appreciate the values of teamwork and stewardship.
