Stewardship in action

RSM US Foundation

In 2014, our firm established the RSM US Foundation as part of our giving strategy and to support our firm's value of stewardship: acting responsibly. A tax-exempt public charity, our foundation is dedicated to building tomorrow's middle market leaders by:

  • Enhancing educational outcomes through programs for individuals so they can become entrepreneurs or middle market business leaders
  • Supporting organizations committed to providing a more stable environment for youth in the areas of hunger, housing or health, thereby helping them succeed in education

Stewardship and acting responsibly are at the core of every decision the RSM US Foundation board makes. It is gratifying to observe the growing impact of the foundation’s giving programs, which total $28.1 million to date.

Local impact

Supporting our universities

Our value of stewardship calls for us to give back to our profession and support the next generation of business and technology professionals; one of the ways we do this is through our University Giving Match program.

Support our communities through national charities

RSM’s commitment to inclusion flows well beyond the boundaries of our firm and our work. We have worked with dedicated organizations, both local and national, to give back to and create positive change in the communities where our people live and work. Core to our firm’s support of enhancing educational outcomes is our focus on supporting nonprofits focused on hunger, housing and health, which allows us to invest in the middle market leaders of tomorrow.

Junior Achievement

In January 2020, RSM launched a national relationship with Junior Achievement USA. This agreement not only gives RSM the opportunity to expand volunteer and financial support of Junior Achievement but also allows our people the chance to educate and empower youth through financial literacy. The development of the Take Stock in Your Future curriculum, coupled with the Stock Market Challenge event, fosters interest in finance-focused (or financial) careers by unlocking the ins and outs of buying, selling, diversification, initial public offerings and more via experiential learning. Through this arrangement, RSM is fostering confident, competent future business leaders equipped with real-world learning and skills.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America

Recognizing the digital divide and educational disparities in communities and school systems experiencing underinvestment, RSM is working to expand its longtime sponsorship and support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) through a new investment in BGCA’s Workforce Readiness program. RSM’s support helps fund BGCA’s overall workforce readiness strategy, build the capacity to supply critical experiences and opportunities at scale, and prepare youth for success in their careers and in life. This helps ensure young people have the skills necessary to enter the workforce by incorporating social-emotional skills into all five core program areas: education, health and wellness, sports and recreation, leadership and service, and the arts.

North American food banks

RSM recognizes that food insecurity is a significant challenge for many and it can have a material impact on the social, emotional and intellectual development of children. We strive to help youth achieve important educational outcomes so they can become the middle market leaders of tomorrow. That’s why, since 2015, RSM has worked with North American food banks to feed tens of thousands of students.

Scholarships

Through the RSM US Foundation, we are proud to support tomorrow’s entrepreneurs, business and technology leaders through 27 U.S. student scholarships annually. We are proud to support students across the country in alleviating the financial burden of funding their education, while achieving their goals – in school and beyond.

Zach Johnson Foundation

The RSM US Foundation supports the Zach Johnson Foundation’s Kids on Course program, which provides tutoring, enrichment, parent engagement, summer learning and long-term mentoring. During the pandemic, the foundation provided support to ensure technology access for the program’s 85 participants. This included secure, reliable internet access for all families of Kids on Course students and access to devices to ensure successful virtual schooling.
