Welcome to Sea Island–Home of The RSM Classic
Anyone who knows me knows that Sea Island, Georgia holds a special place in my heart. Not only is it where my family and I live, but it’s home of The RSM Classic, a tournament that I’ve had the privilege of hosting since it began in 2010.
That’s right…that means we’ll be celebrating the 10th RSM Classic this year – that’s 10 years of giving back to the community through charitable donations raised through the tournament’s Birdies Fore Love and other charitable programs.
Since its inception, the tournament has raised more than $13 million for children- and family-focused charitable organizations aligned with the mission of The Davis Love Foundation and the RSM US Foundation. And a large part of that is due to the good people at RSM, title sponsor of The RSM Classic.
RSM’s people really embrace Birdies Fore Love, and we’ll have a few of them onsite during this year’s tournament to present a check for charity during Tuesday evening’s Pro-Am draft party. My wife Robin and I were blown away last year when our friends with RSM presented us with a check for more than $3.5 million for charity, and I’m looking forward to learning how much they raised this year!
Of course, none of this could happen without the support of the entire Sea Island community. From the staff at Sea Island Resort and other island hotels to the 1,200 volunteers who give tirelessly of their time leading up to and during tournament week, to other vendors and service providers across the island, this truly is a team effort. I’d like to thank everyone who is involved in the success of The RSM Classic, and to ensuring that all of our visitors during tournament week experience the Southern hospitality that our home is so well-known known for. Sea Island truly is a unique place.
This year, we’ll be celebrating the 10th The RSM Classic, in part, by using #Celebrating10Years and #RSMClassic throughout tournament week (Nov. 18– 24) on social media. I hope you’ll follow along and help spread the word – and I hope to see you during the week!
