Ernest “E.J.” Nedder is a partner and national tax leader for RSM US LLP. He has developed and oversees execution of an innovative and bold tax strategy for clients in the United States and Canada.
He has more than 25 years of experience advising clients for RSM, and over 15 years of leadership experience. As national tax leader, E.J. is focused on building a unique approach to serving RSM clients by integrating best-in-class client service with industry expertise and technology platforms. His passion for tax and his people-centric nature drives him to focus on ensuring RSM clients receive relevant, proactive tax advice to help them achieve their business and personal goals. E.J. has a diverse background in providing tax consulting and compliance services to private equity funds and high net worth individuals. As an innovative and transformational leader, he is redefining the client experience using technology and the power of data to deliver services and insights in a more meaningful and compelling way.
As a mentor, he has been actively involved in developing leaders across the organization, as well as developing tax professionals through the firm’s tax training programs. He has lectured on various topics, including mergers and acquisitions, choice of entity, partnerships and international taxation. Prior to joining RSM, E.J. served clerkships with the New York State Surrogate’s Court and Massachusetts Appellate Tax Board. He has served two terms on the RSM US LLP Board of Directors and was chairman of the board during his second term.
Throughout his career, E.J. has been relentlessly focused on the “why” when it comes to strategy. He strives to give his team and clients a deep understanding of how tactics relate to the overall objective. He is an active participant in the firm’s Family First employee network group and member of the AACE Board of Advisors. Outside of work, E.J. enjoys spending time with his family, as well as golfing, skiing and boating.
