Karen Kurek shares concerns on education with President Obama

MANUFACTURING INSIGHTS  |

On July 8, 2011, Karen Kurek, McGladrey’s national manufacturing practice leader, met with President Barak Obama at Northern Virginia Community College as he showcased The Manufacturing Institute's Manufacturing Skills Certification System and highlighted the need for business-education partnerships to strengthen the manufacturing workforce. The Manufacturing Institute and the National Association of Manufacturers are pleased the administration is making it a priority to close the skills gap in the manufacturing sector. During the meeting a goal was set to have 500,000 students over the next five years complete the two year skills certification curriculum at community colleges across the United States.
