AICPA appoints Bob Dohrer as chief auditor

RSM International’s Global Leader for Quality and Risk, Bob Dohrer, recently was appointed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) as chief auditor effective October 1. He will replace Chuck Landes, the AICPA’s vice president of professional standards – public accounting, who plans to retire in early 2019. Bob will serve as the AICPA’s expert on U.S. and international auditing and attestation standards, and will lead the Public Accounting Professional Standards team.
On September 30, Bob will leave RSM International, where he currently is responsible for the maintenance and development of the network’s audit and attest services policies and procedures, and oversees RSM’s global quality inspection programs. Prior to joining the RSM Executive Office in 2012, he was Director of Assurance Services and International Assurance Services Leader for RSM US LLP (then McGladrey). In total, Bob has 29 years of public accounting experience – all with RSM International and RSM US LLP.
Bob also has held various leadership positions on international boards and standard-setting committees, including currently as chair of the AICPA Assurance Services Executive Committee and formerly on the Auditing Standards Board. Further, he currently is a member of the International Audit and Assurance Standards Board, where he chairs the Data Analytics Working Group, co-chairs the Group Audits Task Force, and is a member of the Quality Control Task Force. Prior to these roles, Bob served two terms as chair of the Forum of Firms.
