About Michael

Michael Giannettino leads RSM US LLP’s tax practice for the consumer goods sector. In addition, he is a member of the firm’s state and local tax (SALT) practice and has served clients as a public accountant for over 25 years. 


Experience

Michael’s experience spans various types of indirect taxes, including sales and use, gross receipts, excise, and unclaimed property (UP). He has implemented clients’ sales and use tax technologies—including Avalara AvaTax, OneSource Determination and Vertex solutions (e.g., Q Series, O Series and Cloud)—with various enterprise resource planning systems. He also provides SALT consulting services to clients, including developing compliance solutions; performing tax process and diagnostic reviews; conducting nexus studies, including Wayfair analysis; reviewing exemption certificates; advising on multijurisdictional voluntary disclosures; performing tax technical research; providing training focused on sales and use tax; and completing business license registrations.

In addition, Michael has extensive experience consulting on multistate UP matters. He provides companies with a full complement of UP services, including exposure analysis; guidance through multistate UP audits with state administrators and third-party auditors; advisory on multistate voluntary disclosure agreements; and development of policies and procedures.
