Joel Shamon is an assurance partner for RSM US LLP and previously served as the enterprise assurance leader from 2017 to 2025. Under his leadership, the assurance line of business grew to more than $1 billion, structured as a national practice and evolved to serve more complex clients.
Joel has more than 35 years of experience in the audit profession, largely serving publicly traded companies in the financial institutions industry. As the enterprise assurance leader, he oversaw the growth and profitability of the practice. He led the development and implementation of assurance policies and procedures, assurance learning and development, and the development and maintenance of audit technology tools and applications.
He has been instrumental in the digital evolution of the assurance practice to provide world-class tools and technology to help team members serve clients better. As a forward-thinking leader, his interest in data analytics, automation and artificial intelligence helps streamline processes and increase efficiencies for RSM colleagues and clients.
Prior to his role as enterprise assurance leader, Joel served as the Northeast region assurance leader and was a member of the RSM US LLP Board of Directors. He was the assurance leader and executive committee member of a firm that RSM acquired, and he had a 15-year career at a Big Four firm where he was the partner-in-charge of the banking industry for the New England assurance and business advisory practice.
At RSM, he mentors others and is passionate about developing high-performing professionals to reach their career goals. Outside of RSM, Joel enjoys golf and spending time with his family.
