If you are considering a career at RSM, the following will answer many of your questions about the process.


From application to start date, the timing of our employment process is dependent on numerous variables. Because the timing can be unpredictable, you should let your talent acquisition specialist know about any factors affecting your availability. You will be notified as to the status of your consideration for a position, even if that position has been filled by another candidate.


An online submission of your resume will be acknowledged via email. Your profile and resume will remain active in our system to enable our talent acquisition specialists to consider you for future openings that match your qualifications. However, if you desire, we will honor your request to be removed from future consideration.

Preliminary Screening/Interview

A designated talent acquisition specialist who reviews the qualifications of all candidates seeking consideration for a position makes an initial determination on potential fit. This person may also contact you to gather additional information, such as relevant experience and qualifications, availability for interviews, interest in relocation, compensation expectations, etc.

Based upon this initial assessment, the talent acquisition specialist will discuss their recommendations with the hiring manager. The hiring manager will select the candidates who will be interviewed in person.

Subsequent Interview(s)

When a hiring manager asks to meet you, a talent acquisition specialist will contact you to arrange a time for you to visit our offices. If you live far from the interested office, we will make travel arrangements for you. If there's time before your visit, we will send you an information packet which will include detailed directions. You will also be asked to complete an electronic employment application.

When you arrive for your interview, a talent acquisition specialist (or local representative) will greet you, discuss your application, explain the schedule for your visit and answer any questions. Depending on the position of interest, you can expect to have two to four individual meetings with RSM professionals. You will have the chance to share your detailed qualifications and learn more about RSM and the work we do. If necessary, we may ask a candidate back for additional interviews before making a final decision.


If you're selected for the position, a recruiter or hiring manager will convey a contingent offer of employment. The offer package will include starting salary and a summary of benefits. Normally, we expect your decision within a week.

Background Checks and Hiring

As part of the offer acceptance process, you will complete a form authorizing us to perform a background check that covers your employment history, references, educational qualifications, etc. This process typically takes three to five days. If no adverse information is reported, we will proceed to hiring. At this time, we will mutually agree on a start date.
