RSM Scores 100 on Disability Equality Index’s 2024 “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion”

CHICAGO – (July 17, 2024) – RSM US LLP (“RSM”) – the leading provider of assurance, tax, and consulting services for the middle market – is pleased to announce that it was recently named a top-scoring firm on the Disability Equality Index®, the world’s most comprehensive benchmarking tool for Fortune 1000 and American law firms which measures disability workplace inclusion – inside their respective organizations and across industry sectors.

The Disability Equality Index was launched in 2015 in the U.S. as a joint initiative of Disability:IN and The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and is acknowledged today as the most robust disability inclusion assessment tool in the business.

By completing the Disability Equality Index, organizations demonstrate stakeholder commitment to disability inclusion and equality, as well as broader social issues, and enhance their reputations. Top-scoring businesses – those scoring 80 or higher – are recognized as a “Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion”.

The Disability Equality Index was originally created through support from the Disability Equality Index Advisory Committee, a diverse group of business leaders, policy experts and disability advocates. Now in its 10th year, the index helps businesses make a positive impact on the unemployment/underemployment of people with disabilities, while also helping companies create long-term value for employees and shareholders and mitigate risk from new legislative requirements.

In 2024, 542 corporations, including 71 Fortune 100 and 220 Fortune 500 organizations, used the Disability Equality Index to benchmark their disability inclusion efforts. The index measured culture & leadership; enterprise-wide access; employment practices (benefits; recruitment; employment, education, retention & advancement; and accommodations); community engagement; supplier diversity; and responsible procurement.

Globally, people with disabilities represent 1.3 billion individuals. Disability is a natural part of the human experience, and it crosses lines of age, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status and other demographics.

Disability:IN recognized that there is no one “right way” to practice inclusion. A company’s inclusion efforts shouldn’t stop once they score 100 on the Disability Equality Index. A score of 100 doesn’t convey perfection but, instead, means that a company has implemented many of the forward-thinking disability inclusion practices featured in the Disability Equality Index.

“On the 10th anniversary of the Disability Equality Index, we’re extremely proud of the 542 national and international companies that are taking a proactive role in leading progress towards disability inclusion, setting a benchmark for others to follow,” said Jill Houghton, president and CEO of Disability:IN. “Their dedication to fostering inclusive workplaces not only attracts top talent but also drives innovation and creates sustainable performance in today’s global market. Together, we are creating a future where everyone can contribute and thrive.”

“At RSM, our culture of inclusion cultivates a workplace where everyone is welcome and comfortable sharing their unique perspectives to contribute to success – for our clients, communities and colleagues,” said Curtis Fenton, strategy execution leader and national leader of RSM’s Abilities employee network group. “We are honored to receive this recognition for our inclusion efforts.”
